October 13, 2026: The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract concerns the Lube Modernization and Bottom Upgradation (LMBU) project led by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at its Mumbai refinery in Maharashtra State, India.
Technip Energies must deliver an integrated hydrocracking and catalytic dewaxing unit (IHCD) with a capacity of 550 kilotonnes per year, as well as a solvent desasphalting unit (SDA) of 850 kilotonnes per year. According to the press release, these two units represent a significant part of the LMBU project and will be integrated within the operating refinery.
From an industrial standpoint, the project aims to modernize HPCL's base oil production for lubricants, components used in the manufacture of automotive engine oils and industrial lubricants. It should also enable the conversion of heavier refinery streams into higher-value products
